Record: 0-2, non-league play
This Week: Thiel College beat the Britons 20-10 on Saturday, their second loss in non-league play this season. Mychal Galla, Muskegon junior, put Albion on the scoreboard with a 41-yard field goal. The Britons’ only touchdown was scored by Kyle Frisbey, Shepherd junior. At 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Albion will play its first home game against Millikin University Decatur, Ill.
Last Week:
Key Player: Jacob Lee, Spring Lake senior, led the Britons in tackles this past weekend—he had eight, one of which forced a fumble. Galla and Frisbey scored Albion’s ten points, collectively.
–Volleyball–
Record: 5-2 overall, 2-1 in MIAA play
This Week: The Lady Brits were victorious against Adrian College last Saturday, posting a 25-18, 25-17, 26-24 three set win in the match. The women’s volleyball team finished with a .250 hitting percentage—41 kills and 16 errors.
Last Week: The Britons won against Trine University on Saturday in a four set match. They posted a .333 hitting percentage in the fourth set with 12 kills and two errors.
Key Players: Alexis Brumm, Troy junior, served two aces in the second set and eight kills in the match. Morgan Watler, Novi senior, had nine kills and Lauren Forshee, Sterling Heights junior, had seven.
–Women’s Golf–
This Week: The Lady Brits golf team finished tenth place out of 15 at the Olivet College Fall Invitational held at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall with a final combined team score of 756 for two days of play. The invitational spanned both Friday and Saturday, with Friday highlights including a career-best round played by Erica Mazur, Northville sophomore.
Last Week: Albion College played in a 10.5-hour tournament on September 6 at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational held at Katke Golf Course. Mazur shot an 88 for 18 holes and was ranked second on the team with a combined score of 185. Morgan Reed, Brighton sophomore, Mariah Fiorillo, Weidman freshman, and Danika Varedy, Trenton senior, all posted scores of 92 for 18 holes over the weekend.
Key Player: Mazur posted a career-best of 81 on day one of competition and tied for ninth in individual play with a score of 169 for 36 holes.
–Women’s Soccer–
Record: 2-0-2
This Week: The Albion Lady Brits won against Mount Union College in a non-league home match last Saturday, emerging victorious in extended overtime. The winning goal was scored by Rachel Kain, Canton sophomore. This was the Lady Brits’ first win this season after tying both Wittenberg and Wilmington. They will play Earlham College on Friday at 5 p.m.
Last Week: Ali Oatley, Ann Arbor senior, was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week after participating in game-winning goals in matches against Ohio Wesleyan University and Mount Union College.
Key Players: Caitlin Bowman, Augusta senior, made one save in the match, holding onto her second shutout of the season. Kain was also influential, scoring Albion’s winning goal.
–Men’s Soccer–
Record: 1-3
This Week: Men’s soccer fell to Spring Arbor University with a 3-1 loss in non-league play. Albion hopes to make a comeback this weekend when the Brits play Otterbein College on Saturday and Wittenberg University on Friday.
Last Week: Despite a downpour, the Brits were victorious against Manchester College, posting a score of 5-1 with Clay Hewitt, Dowagiac sophomore, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Key Players: Eric Clark, Bridgeman sophomore, scored his second goal of the season, and Hewitt took three shots against Spring Arbor.
