The Britons chewed through the competition on March 19, opening their home season with a 15-1 win against the Bluffton Beavers.

Following this win, the Britons won four games against Grace Christian University and one game against Heidelberg University, leaving the team with 12 wins and six losses so far this season.

To open Thursday’s game the Britons took a ten run lead in the first inning, with Winter Springs, Florida, sophomore Carter Stahl, bringing home a two-run double. Macomb senior Daniel Bruzdewicz pitched the entire game, striking out twelve opponents and allowing five hits.

Bruzdewicz said the game set “the tone of what (the team) can accomplish,” adding that the Britons are ready to handle any setbacks.

“(The team) might hit some bumps here and there, but I know we’ll bounce back from it,” Bruzdewicz said.

Ada first-year Max Holser said the team’s “intense” practice schedule includes 7 a.m. lifts on Mondays and Wednesdays and daily practice with one off-day a week.

But it’s not just the players putting in work. White Lake first-year Alex Definis said “the trainers work outrageous hours.”

“There’s plenty of support from trainers and coaches,” Definis said. “We do meditation as a team; our coach talks to us about different mental skills that have helped us.”

The Britons will take on Calvin today at 4 p.m. at home.
