On Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Albion College sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, Phi chapter, held their annual philanthropy event: Color Me, Alpha Xi. Beginning at the Kresge Gym steps, participants ran or walked a 5k that ran throughout campus, ending again at the steps. During the 5k, members of Alpha Xi sprayed chalk powder on the participants as they began their run and at various points along their path.
President of Alpha Xi Delta, Jenna Kekich, a senior from Woodhaven Michigan, said that Color Me Alpha Xi is their “big philanthropy event.”
“Our philanthropy is the Kindly Hearts initiative and we support children and teens who are in the foster care system or who are experiencing homelessness,” Kekich said. “All of our donations go to a local organization located in Battle Creek.”
Kekich said the location just opened and that the sorority is “super excited” for their new philanthropy.
According to Alpha Xi’s Philanthropy Vice President, Jana Rajab, a junior from Vienna, Austria’s post on Albion Today, “all proceeds will go to the Foster Club, in support of children and teenagers experiencing foster care and homelessness.”
