Earlham College’s maroon and white joined Albion’s purple and gold on the Briton courts Sunday afternoon, leaving Albion with a win and a loss.

This was the last match of the season for men’s and women’s tennis, the men leaving with a 4-3 victory and the women with a 6-1 loss.

The day began with women’s tennis taking the court in the early afternoon. Despite losing overall to the Quakers, this was not a complete victory for Earlham. Rochester junior Molly Dunn was able to secure a straight sets win at the No. 6 spot in singles.

Spring Lake first-year Ada Feasby began her match with a competitive start before falling to a 6-4, 6-0 decision.

“We’ve had some pretty tough matches all around, but this definitely was, I think, the most,” Feasby said.

The men’s tennis team had a match that resulted in a 4-3 victory. Midland seniors Josh and Jacob Doyle played a doubles match that ended with them claiming the No. 1 spot with a 6-3 victory.

Another win was captured by Grand Haven first-year Malcolm Johnson in a two-set match finishing with a 6-1, 6-0 result. In an interview before the match, Johnson explained why this match was significant.

“We like being able to challenge ourselves and push ourselves to be better. And I think that’s what (the match) is going to do,” Johnson said.
